Gaslift – available in 3 sizes:
140mm – fits most standard office chairs; 450mm at its lowest point & 540mm at its highest

260mm – the commonly used gaslift for laboratory work and work seated at high benches (instructions on how to remove and install are available); 610mm at its lowest point & 870 at its highest
How to install the gas lift cylinder on your own?
Put the chair on a old towel or rag, then tip the chair onto its side. Spray WD40 into the areas the gaslift inserts into the chair (under the seat pan and into the base) this will help loosen the gaslift, use the rubber mallet to tap and remove the base of the chair away from the seat. (the castors may fall off, so please be careful where you are standing)
Use the pipe wrench to clamp tightly onto the top of the cylinder. Twist and then pull up in order to remove the cylinder.
Remove the cap off the new cylinder, (Loose coloured cap normally only supplied on the 260mm and 265mm). Insert the bottom of the cylinder into the center of the chair base. Carefully lift both the chair base and the chair cylinder into the chair mechanism, add back any castors that have come loose, sit back on your chair and test. Â
